We were advised by our hotel staff to consider a visit. It's easy to visit by ferry taking 15 minutes. The ferries are every 40 minutes. The islands are linked by bridges, aesthetically beautiful and full of history. There are local residents so that in addition to being a

My wife and I visited during a wet and windy winter day, we strolled around and popped into a few museums but quickly retreated in the face of the cold winds rolling in from the Baltic sea. In retrospect, it would have been much better to have gone on a tour.

Hello saw88 and thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that your visit to Suomenlinna was not what you expected. We are thankful for your constructive criticism about the lack of outdoor signage and display about history. In order to get the most information on Suomenlinna's history, it is a good idea to visit the Tourist Information office right at the beginning of your visit, in order to get the brochure and visit the introductory exhibition about the history of the fortress. We, the tourist advisors, are also here to answer any questions or give a general idea of the history behind the whole place. Another option is joining a guided tour, which is organized every Saturday and Sunday in the winter season. also, the Suomenlinna Museum offers a lot of interesting viewpoints to those interested in history. About the ferry ticket prices: the trip to Suomenlinna is included in the general Helsinki public transport card, as you mentioned. Bought separately the ticket costs 2,80 euros one way per adult. We wish you a great spring and hope to see you again in Suomenlinna! With best regards, Taru / Suomenlinna Tourist Information
